It lies on the seabed of Cala 'e Luas, under special surveillance awaiting the intervention of divers. The suspected explosive device was spotted in Marina di Gairo by a 14-year-old boy from Cardedu while spearfishing.

Francesco Piras , son of former mayor Matteo, recounts the discovery: "After diving from the dinghy, I moved with my mask and fins, and while scanning the seabed, I noticed a cylindrical object that immediately piqued my curiosity. Being passionate about war materials, I immediately realized that the object, wedged between two rocks, was a remnant. I went out and immediately notified my father, who alerted the Carabinieri."

The military personnel from the Cardedu station (responsible for the stretch) forwarded the news to the Arbatax Coast Guard and Commander Mattia Caniglia immediately issued an order to seal off the stretch of sea.

Specialist units of Italian Navy divers, tasked with explosive ordnance disposal and underwater safety, are expected at Cala 'e Luas . Regarding the order, the frigate captain describes the nature of the object as "unknown."
