There were moments of fear yesterday afternoon in Pabillonis due to a fire that broke out in the countryside near Landiri Marras and Is Arenas . Fortunately, the Forestry Corps responded to the scene with the support of a light helicopter from the Fenosu operations base, and another aircraft from the Iglesias base later arrived. The DOS (Director of Fire Extinguishing Operations) of the Guspini forestry station coordinated the extinguishing operations.

Mayor Marco Tuveri, for his part, has been closely monitoring the situation: "I received a call from the Civil Protection operations room, informing me that the helicopter was responding. Both the forestry brigade and the Civil Protection units from Pabillonis and Guspini were on the ground. The fire affected a eucalyptus grove."

Civil defense volunteers have been on the front lines in Pabillonis for years, as President Pietro Sidda explains : "The fire affected several hectares of land and, in addition to a eucalyptus grove, also affected an overgrown vineyard. The wind was blowing from the northwest, and we responded with two Ford Rangers and two teams. We continuously train with specific civil defense courses."
