Fear and unease on the Porto Torres-Sassari railway line. A flock of sheep crossed the tracks of a moving train carrying students and commuters headed toward the capital city of Sassari.

It happened this morning, before 8:00 a.m., about ten minutes after departing from the Porto Torres maritime railway station. The train suddenly encountered a flock of sheep crossing the tracks. The driver braked immediately, but several sheep were crushed and injured . The passengers were unharmed and didn't even have time to realize what was happening.

They were greatly frightened and inconvenienced. The train conductor informed passengers of the incident, saying the train would be stopped for a few minutes to verify safety conditions. The railway line was blocked for over an hour before the train resumed its journey. The students, on their first day of school after the summer break, arrived in class an hour and a half late, obviously justified.
