A critical picture, but no more dramatic as in the first four months of the year. These are the words of the regional transport councilor Antonio Moro , who spoke at the Cagliari summit on the critical issues of Sardinian civil motorization . «The Ministry has confirmed its commitment», declared the exponent of the Giunta, «to continue to send personnel on missions to strengthen the service for examinations and revisions. We are talking about seven authorized officials, each of whom remains on the island for a week and carries out 90 exams every day».

The main focus is on Sassari Motorization, the most in an emergency, where a new tool has reduced the critical issues: «The mobile inspection center has been activated and is clearing many backlogs of bookings, which has allowed, as reported by the top management of the Motorization, reduce waiting times for reviews by one month on average. For licenses, on the other hand, the required exam meetings are satisfied even if some critical issues remain for the 'higher licenses' C, D and E, while for registrations, waiting times have been reduced to 45 days for goods vehicles and buses . Furthermore, the services of private inspectors authorized to overhaul heavy vehicles are also being activated in Sardinia».

The meeting was also attended by videoconference by the head of the Department for sustainable mobility of the Ministry of Transport, Maria Teresa Di Matteo , as well as the territorial general manager of the Centre, Fausto Fedele, and the director of Sardinia, Marco Antonio Pes: «We have pointed out again», added councilor Moro, «the very serious shortage of personnel that is registered in Sassari , where there are 17 units, and one of these is retiring next month. The Ministry, in agreement with the top management of the Motor Vehicles Department, confirmed the start of the procedures for the acquisition of new personnel from the active rankings in Sardinia to include three engineers and five administrators, of which two engineers (the first will be hired as early as 5 July) and four administrative ones to be allocated to Sassari».

Finally, a look at the next steps: «The DMV has already activated the comparison with Laore for the scrolling of the rankings and will also activate a similar interlocution with the Region for the scrolling of the ranking of the competition for engineers, where there are 160 suitable for 44 places. Department, Ministry and Motor Vehicles will meet in sixty days to take stock of a situation which in any case», concluded Moro, «has become less worrying than at the beginning of the year ».
