The search for Martina Lattuca , 49, who disappeared on Tuesday afternoon, was suspended as darkness fell. The Coast Guard announced that operations will resume Thursday morning, at first light.
These are the woman's personal effects found this morning: the backpack, found by a group of canoeists between the Grotta dei Colombi and the Grotta Marina di Calamosca, in the Cagliari sea, was immediately handed over to Coast Guard personnel, who were working with them on the search. A shoe was later found; the family is verifying whether it belongs to the woman.
The search, by land, sea, and air, continues unabated. In the field, coordinated by the Cagliari Prefecture, 30 Alpine Rescue technicians, dozens of firefighters, members of the Coast Guard, Carabinieri, and the Forestry Corps are working. Divers, sniffer dogs, drones, and helicopters are deployed, scouring the entire area between Calamosca, Sella del Diavolo, and Cala Fighera.
The Mountain Rescue Mobile Coordination Center was set up in a hotel parking lot, where the car was found, the last confirmed location of the woman. Investigations are also underway on the woman's vehicle.
The woman was captured on camera yesterday morning at the hotel: after parking her car in front, she took the path leading to the top of the Sella del Diavolo (Devil's Saddle). It was raining, and she had an umbrella with her. Her partner raised the alarm that afternoon when he didn't see her return home.
