They were riding an electric scooter when the driver lost control and they fell heavily to the ground.

Two minors were injured in the accident this evening around 6:00 PM on Via Poerio, in Pirri . Their condition initially appeared serious, so much so that emergency responders who arrived on the scene reported two red codes to the operations center. They suffered head and facial injuries. However, after initial treatment, the severity status was downgraded to yellow.

According to initial reports, only one of the two was wearing a helmet. The other, in fact, was the one who fared the worst. It's not yet clear which direction they were traveling: the mandatory direction on Via Poerio is uphill, and if they were obeying the highway code, this may have mitigated the impact.
