Compliance with safety rules and more stringent controls and supervision on the docks of the port of Cagliari. The workers and unions are asking for this - silently as a sign of mourning - in front of the headquarters of the Port System Authority of the Sea of Sardinia a few days after the death of Raffaele Massa , the 50-year-old worker who was crushed between two containers while working aboard a ship moored at the industrial port of Cagliari.

The protest started immediately, with a 72-hour strike that will end today at midnight.

«We are here to protest - said Alessio Salis of Filt Cgil - against yet another death of a port worker. We do not know the causes of the accident, but one thing is certain: something in the chain of operations did not go well. We are here, not only to cry and remember our colleague, but also to ask for greater awareness on the protection of workers."

The trade unionists also explained their reasons to the Minister of Infrastructure Matteo Salvini: «We asked him to do something - the words of Marco Manca, Filt Cgil - so that port work is recognized as strenuous: we work at night, sometimes at temperatures too high, sometimes in the cold on the dock. We ask the System Authority for additional checks and supervision to ensure that these tragedies never happen again."
