Tragedy was narrowly avoided in Sant'Antioco, where, just steps from the Su forru 'a macchina beach, a child fell nearly two meters into a well. The incident occurred yesterday afternoon in an area used as a parking lot in a popular destination for families with children.

According to the reconstruction, including the testimony of some witnesses, the boy, a few years old, fell into the well when the concrete covering on which he was resting collapsed . After the parents raised the alarm, several swimmers responded immediately and managed to rescue the child . Fortunately, the injuries were not serious; the child apparently survived with only a few bruises.

Carabinieri, firefighters, and workers from the Municipality of Sant'Antioco also intervened on the scene, and the area was immediately cordoned off.

"It's an old well that protrudes about 70 centimeters from the ground. It's no longer in use, and when I last inspected it in June, because we cleaned up the beach, it was sealed," explains Mayor Ignazio Locci . "I should point out that the area is owned by the Igea company," the mayor continues, "fortunately, the worst hasn't happened. We've already made it safe, and tomorrow the well will be filled with inert materials and closed."
