Disruptions are expected tomorrow, Wednesday, December 10, due to the national general strike called by several unions, which will involve workers in the environmental hygiene sector. The strike could cause disruptions throughout the day—including overnight—to waste collection and street cleaning services.
According to a communication from the Hygiene and Urban Decorum Department , the recycling centers on Viale Sant'Elia and Via San Paolo, as well as the recycling centers on Piazza Puglia and Via Pisano, may remain closed.
There may also be disruptions at the Information Center on Viale Ciusa 133, which may not provide assistance either at the counter or by phone or email. The Reuse Center on Via Contivecchi 8 is also at risk of operational disruption.
Despite the strike, in accordance with Law 146/1990 and the national sector agreement of March 1, 2001, essential public services will continue to be guaranteed. Specifically, the collection and transportation of waste from schools, hospitals, nursing homes, barracks, and markets will continue. The service provider has assured that it will do everything possible to minimize disruption.
The administration invites residents to put out their waste according to the usual schedule , but remember to pick up any uncollected items and put them back on the street at the next collection point. Normal services will resume in the early hours of Thursday, December 11th.
