More checks but no Piazza del Carmine-style red zone, for now, in the Marina district of Cagliari, where last Saturday a fifteen-year-old was stabbed three times by a peer , at the height of an argument linked to recent disagreements between the two.
Following the incident, a meeting of the Provincial Committee for Public Order and Safety was held today at the Prefecture: the Interior Ministry representative, Giuseppe Castaldo, was present along with Mayor Massimo Zedda and the heads of the police force.
During the meeting, a statement reads, "the episode was analyzed in its various aspects. The investigators' findings revealed that the incident was linked to a context of youthful deviance."
The person responsible for the stabbings was arrested within hours and is still being held in the Quartucciu juvenile prison.
"The phenomenon of youth hardship," the Prefecture states, "must be addressed by implementing, alongside the actions of the judiciary and law enforcement, educational, cultural, and social initiatives, and by networking among institutions."
At the end of the meeting, "it was also decided to intensify territorial surveillance services throughout the area affected by the recent episode of violence. In the coming days, the 'Pact for Urban Security' will be renewed with the Municipality of Cagliari , which provides, among other things, the implementation of video surveillance systems connected to the police operations centers." The section regarding the "branding" of minors to prevent them from receiving alcohol should be removed from the document.
