A question of facade, for now. At the Marino del Poetto hospital in Cagliari, extraordinary maintenance work on the external part of the lower wing has been completed (the upper wing now houses the ASL offices, with a sea view).

The works, which began at the end of April 2024, restored the structural integrity of the facade and gave it back its original color fields, enhanced by the new glass parapets. "We have also completed this activity", comments the general director of the Cagliari ASL Marcello Tidore, "we are giving back to the city a good part of the front line of the Marino hospital". Which had become a ruin, so much so that when there were still patients inside it was forbidden to go out onto the balconies.

Once the final finishing touches have been made, the construction site will be dismantled and access to the southern front of the building will be restored.

But this is only the first step of a more complex intervention, which includes the redevelopment of the road system and external areas, the remodeling of the internal spaces to accommodate the new community hospital with 40 beds and the creation of new clinics and health services.

The community hospital should be a healthcare facility for territorial care "which performs an intermediate function between home and hospitalization as defined by the directives of Mission 6 Health of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR).
