The large ficus tree in Piazza Matteotti, Cagliari, is sick: the municipality is cordoning off the area beneath the monumental tree to ensure the safety of passersby.

During inspections carried out by the Parks and Greenery department, signs emerged of a risk of collapse on some branches, due to internal cavities and fungi that compromise their stability.

For this reason, until the safety work is completed, an order signed by Mayor Massimo Zedda has absolutely prohibited access, transit, and parking in the cordoned-off area under the ficus tree canopy.
