A procession of hundreds of people, including many students from Cagliari schools of all levels, walked through the streets of the center of Cagliari this morning holding a red thread and wearing clothes of the same color, to say a strong no to violence against women, an issue that is unfortunately increasingly topical. The “March of the red thread” - this is the name of the event organized by Luna e Sole Odv, Cittadinanzattiva Cagliari and Fondazione Una Nessuna Centomila with various local organizations and sponsored by the Municipality of Cagliari - saw the participation of many ordinary people, students from the Foiso Fois art and music high school, the "Azuni" high school, the Ugo Foscolo school and the Sacro Cuore and Ludum School.

Also present were representatives of the institutions , such as the deputy mayor of Cagliari Maria Cristina Mancini and the majority regional councilor Camilla Soru. It is part of the calendar of events for the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women "Feminas. Cagliari against violence. Bodies and words" of the Municipality of Cagliari. Once they arrived in Piazza Garibaldi, the final point of the demonstration, the participants held a flash mob to raise awareness on a topic that is never talked about enough , despite the fact that there have been 95 victims of femicide in Italy - 5 in Sardinia - from January of this year to today.

During the flash mob, some male and female students read poems they had written, while representatives of the associations read the names of all the victims of femicide this year. Victims, they were keen to point out, were overwhelmingly killed by partners, ex-partners or family members. "Violence against women most of the time has the keys to the house," the associations recalled.
