Cagliari, dozens of ambulance sirens wail as Chico Pais bids farewell.

An escort of dozens of ambulances to pay their last respects to Chico Pais, a historic 118 operator who died suddenly two days ago, at the age of 69, after being struck by an illness .

The funeral will take place today in the Church of the Most Holy Name of Mary, in the Quartiere del Sole, the neighborhood where the association presided by Pais is also located.

Awaiting the coffin outside were emergency vehicles from numerous organizations: their representatives wanted to pay homage to a veteran who worked in the emergency sector for decades and trained many new recruits.

As the coffin emerged , all sirens were turned on, then the ambulances followed the hearse in procession to the San Michele cemetery.
