Cagliari and Olbia's local health authorities are without a leadership: they risk being placed under special administration, but the waiting time is long.

There's no more time. Today, the terms of the deputy managers at the Cagliari and Olbia local health authorities expire, having taken office just before Christmas, following the dismissal of their commissioners following the Constitutional Court ruling of December 23. Therefore, starting tomorrow, unless the Regional Council appoints general managers at the last minute , the two health authorities will be left without a leader . This paves the way for the government to appoint a commissioner. However, this will require at least a month, during which the President of the Region (and Interim Health Councilor) Alessandra Todde hopes to put things right.
The council could adopt a two-step solution. First, close the loop on Olbia, then address the most complex issue: Cagliari. The director general of the Gallura ASL could be appointed as early as next Wednesday. Possible candidates for the general directorship are: Antonio Scano (who, however, would have to resign from the Medio Campidano leadership, where he was appointed on January 31st), considered a suitable candidate to ensure the connection between the ASL and Mater Olbia; Giovanni Maria Soro; and Ottaviano Contu, already chosen by the Five Star Movement during the administration of the commissioners.
The case of ASL 8 is more complex , where negotiations between the presidency and the former director general, removed due to an unconstitutional law, are at a standstill. In this case, the appointment of the new director general could be postponed until March , after an important three-day period for Alessandra Todde: on the 26th, M5S leader Giuseppe Conte will be in Cagliari, on the 27th is the day of the appeal hearing on the dismissal case, and on the 28th, a mobilization organized by the president herself to prevent the invasion of mafia inmates in the island's prisons.
