It all happened in a matter of moments. The school assistant entered the children's bathroom on the third floor of the Satta nursery school in Cagliari (Istituto Comprensivo "Satta Spano De Amicis") to check the conditions of a door reported shortly before by a teacher as "unsafe" and that door , suddenly, it came down, falling on top of her and injuring her .

It happened this morning around 10, half an hour before recess time. The collaborator Ata was transported with a 118 ambulance to a city hospital where in the afternoon, after the relevant investigations, doctors assigned her a few days of treatment. The fear was so great because that bathroom is frequented by children who, however, fortunately could not have been inside at that moment given that shortly before, after the report received from the teacher, the manager had forbidden the area to children . "A door that suddenly falls causes a lot of concern," says Elisabeth Piras, head teacher at Satta. «I immediately notified the RSPP», the school safety manager, «and the municipal education councilor Marina Adamo who immediately worked to put us in contact with the school building office».

The story. Already on Wednesday, the school employee who was the victim of today's accident had reported to the manager in a note that that door had problems. “It didn't close, so it was probably broken,” is written in that communication. "But no one could have imagined that it was even dangerous," says the manager. "In any case, after the teacher's report this morning who warned that the door was not "tied" to the hinges, I prohibited the children from using that bathroom", and this circumstance prevented the accident from having much more serious consequences. «When the employee returned to the bathroom to check the door, it suddenly fell on her. The problem could then be structural", warns the head teacher. «For this reason I asked for an inspection of all the school's fixtures. If there had been a boy or girl there, what could have happened? ».

Gabriella Deidda , councilor for Public Works and head of the school building office, explains: «We have received the report from the school and we have already instructed the maintenance office and we will intervene immediately. At the same time, an inspection will also be carried out on the other fixtures in the school."
