It is a monster of 1500 square meters of asbestos slabs. An ecological bomb a few meters from the Cabras pond, inside a Sic area. However, after 30 years of building abuses and legal battles, all of this is running out of time.

In Punta Pirastu there is now a specialized team to remove the killer material . A long and difficult undertaking that will last for some time. The demolition and reclamation work of the illegal buildings that have been devastating the eastern bank of the pond for decades has started . A project to fight unauthorized use, to reclaim asbestos from the environment, to recover the landscape that sees the light and that will forever eliminate an element of enormous territorial criticality.

The intervention is directed by the Municipality of Cabras after having been awarded two loans : the first is a contribution of 90 thousand euros from the Ministry of the Interior for the demolition of illegal works; the second is a regional loan of 160,000 euros for asbestos remediation, for a total available of 250,000 euros.

It is a structure made up of several buildings which in past years were used as sheepfolds and were used by local companies. The story had a judicial development in order to which the structure was declared abusive. Since then it has been in a state of neglect and awaited demolition.

The intervention has been studied in detail and involves the removal of 4,000 cubic meters of illegal volumes and 1,500 square meters of asbestos sheet roofing.
