48-hour strike by Brotzu nurses, for the entire days of May 23rd and 24th .
This was proclaimed by Nursing Up, denouncing «inadequate assistance and demoting working conditions due to the absence of social and health workers».
In a note, the union speaks of an "unsustainable" situation, with the number of nurses and health workers "insufficient to cover shifts" , especially "in the intensive care and emergency rooms".
«The analysis of ward shifts – explains the regional secretary Diego Murracino – highlights the frequent presence of only two nurses per shift for over 20 hospitalized patients, with a ratio of 1:12 far from the optimal ratio of 1:6 ».
Again: «In the departments where the OSS is absent on the night shift, the company reports the presence of a single auxiliary OSS who would be available on call to provide basic assistance and personal hygiene to over 600 patients present, a ratio of 1 :600 patently ridiculous and offensive."
The solution? Only one for the union: «The Region must immediately provide Brotzu with new economic resources, linking them to the increase in the number of approximately 150 nurses and 400 health workers ».
