The situation is better than in other Italian regions, but the pandemic numbers are worsening also in Sardinia. This is what the usual report of the Gimbe Foundation shows for the week from 17 to 23 November.

Currently positive cases per 100 thousand inhabitants are 142 (they were 118 a week ago) and there is an increase in new infections of 14.6% compared to the previous week.

The beds in the medical area (3%) and in intensive care (6%) occupied by Covid patients remain well below the saturation threshold.

The list of new cases per 100 thousand inhabitants of the last week sees Sassari first with 58, followed by Nuoro (52), Oristano (40), South Sardinia (37), Metropolitan city of Cagliari (33).

78.1% of Sardinians (compared to 76.7% at national level) completed the vaccination cycle, a further 2.3% (Italian average 2.5) received the first dose.

It also runs with third doses: the coverage rate with the booster dose is 36%, above the national average which stands at 29.1%; the vaccination coverage rate with an additional dose, dedicated to transplant recipients and people with "marked impairment of the immune response" is 100% (Italy average 85.3%).

IN ITALY - For the fifth consecutive week, new cases of coronavirus are increasing nationally (+ 27%), with a daily average more than quadrupled if we compare the 2,456 infections of October 15 with the 9,866 of November 23.

The increase affects all the Regions, saving only Basilicata, and also drags the curves of hospitalizations upwards. In the non-critical area, growth of 15.8% (from 3,970 to 4,597 hospitalizations), in intensive care + 16.4% (from 481 to 560 patients).

In 18 provinces the weekly incidence exceeds 150 cases per 100 thousand inhabitants. Monstre incidence in Trieste (674), Gorizia (492) and Bolzano (442). Followed by Forlì-Cesena (311), Padua (274), Rimini (249), Aosta (248), Ravenna (214), Treviso (213), Venice (213), Vicenza (200), Pordenone (186), Udine ( 183), Fermo (172), Ascoli Piceno (166), Belluno (162), La Spezia (162) and Imperia (160).

"When the incidence exceeds 150 cases per 100 thousand inhabitants - comments Nino Cartabellotta - the administrators must decide on any targeted restrictions to stem the spread".
