Blockade in Cagliari, bans against the Sardinian activists of the Last Generation revoked
With five others they had paralyzed traffic in Via Roma, the Police Commissioner had "expelled" them from the city for 3 years but they must attend University: appeal acceptedAppeal accepted: the police commissioner of Cagliari, Paolo Rossi, revoked the expulsion orders issued to the Sardinian student who, together with five other young activists of the Last Generation , had blocked traffic on Via a Roma last November 13th, in Cagliari, to protest against the use of fossil fuels, causing traffic disruption in a key area of the city centre.
The seven activists, physically taken away by the flying squad officers, were all reported by the police for unauthorized demonstration, road blockade and passive resistance to a public official. The exit papers were then signed in via Amat which prevented their return to Cagliari for three years.
The lawyer Giulia Lai, who protected the two Sardinian boys, presented an appeal to the police commissioner against the provision, motivating the request for revocation because they are two university students, of Law and Cultural Heritage, who must regularly attend the courses of the University of Cagliari to be able to take exams and eventually graduate. With the three-year dismissal, their studies should have been interrupted.
The commissioner, having assessed the request and the documentation presented, decided in self-defense to revoke the measures.
