The incident reported by the Sarrabus Gerrei Civil Protection occurred this morning shortly after 12:30 on the Villaputzu coast.

"The timely intervention of our lifeguard Daniele Mattana was providential," the association says. "After reaching the woman, he calmed her down and had to fight hard to get her out of danger." "The current," the lifeguard said, "was quite strong, and getting her to safety wasn't easy, but fortunately everything went well."

The fifty-one-year-old didn't swallow any water and didn't want medical facilities activated. "Just a big scare, hoping that next time she sees the red flag raised, she won't go into the water," she said.

In less than a month of service at Porto Tramatzu, the lifeguard has already performed three interventions, "and we're starting to get worried: unfortunately, many people aren't aware that the seabed there has also changed in recent years, and convinced that 'the water is shallow anyway,' they risk running into serious risks."
