The Region has extended the beach concessions for operators in Sardinia until 31 December 2024. The operational guidelines for their management and the contributions to the Municipalities "for the planning activities of the maritime state property for tourist-recreational purposes" are contained in two resolutions of the Council (not yet consultable) approved yesterday, a particularly prolific day for Villa Devoto: they were over 140 measures on the most disparate topics were approved.

Local authorities councilor Aldo Salaris revealed the contents of the two resolutions: «The season is safe. It was a duty to give an answer to those who risked getting stuck in the bureaucracy, which is why we initiated all the necessary actions to provide uniformity and certainty. The maritime state concessions for tourist-recreational purposes will also be effective for the 2024 season".

In November, the Council of State rejected the extension until 31 December 2033, which had been decided by law 145/2018, considering it to be in conflict with the European Bolkestein directive which prohibits automatic renewals of public concessions. The deadline was December 31, 2023.

The mayor of Cagliari, candidate for the presidency of the Region for the centre-right, Paolo Truzzu, also comments on the news: «The companies that operate in the maritime state property carry out a fundamental activity within the tourist offer, in particular by offering some services on the beach ( among these, lifesaving, bathrooms, services for the disabled), which are to be considered as public utility services", he maintains, "therefore, the Regional Council did well to extend the concessions until December 2024, so as to safeguard the activity of these companies, a strong point of the seaside tourist season."
