"Ours is one of the first visits that the Justice Commission of the chamber intends to make to understand the critical issues and shortcomings of this prison", says the deputy of Forza Italia, Pietro Pittalis. They reached Badu 'e Carros prison just before noon. After the escape of the Apulian boss Marco Raduano, last February 24, the parliamentarians of the Justice Commission have kept their word. They had promised an imminent stop in Nuoro, to experience first-hand the leaks and shortcomings of a penitentiary in great pain.

"The Meloni government cares a lot, the situation in prisons is a priority for us because it is one of those things that qualifies the life of a state, of the homeland", reiterates Barbara Polo, deputy of the Brothers of Italy. Alessandra Todde, Movimento 5 Stelle, adds: "None of us intends to forget the situation in the prison of Nuoro".

The unions have long complained of a chronic shortage of personnel. The Deputy Minister Francesco Paolo Sisto himself remarked that there are 145 agents on the staff, 60 fewer than expected. Moreover, in a prison that houses 224 prisoners, some under the 41 bis regime. Meanwhile, Pietro Pittalis assures: «The 2023 Budget has already provided for the hiring of over a thousand prison police officers. There will also be positive effects in Nuoro».
