An autopsy may be ordered this morning on the body of Gaia Costa , the 24-year-old woman from Tempio who was hit and killed by a German tourist in Porto Cervo. The case for road homicide is being investigated by prosecutor Milena Aucone, who is in the process of registering the alleged perpetrator as a suspect in the Tempio Prosecutor's Office.

The Carabinieri in Porto Cervo interviewed several witnesses and acquired video from the Costa Smeralda Consortium's video surveillance system. The Consortium's security agency has a camera system that completely covers the accident area. According to initial investigations, the person who struck Gaia Costa apparently drove off from the pedestrian crossing on Via Aga Khan, despite the girl's presence in the path of his BMW X5 SUV . The tourist, a German top manager, has already left Italy pending the formalization of charges .
