Furio Casini (the only non-military member) received a one-year sentence for slander and reputational assault, while Colonel Andrea Taurasi received a six-month prison sentence for forgery. Two full acquittals were handed out to former regional councilor Valerio De Giorgi and former Assemini councilor Antonio Guerrieri. Enrico Raimondi was also acquitted at the preliminary hearing. Two others were sent back for trial to January 23 of next year, but were acquitted of the conspiracy charge: Michele Sandokan Ottodosso and Daniel Vacca.
The summary trial and preliminary hearing before Judge Giorgio Altieri concluded in the criminal proceedings concerning alleged dossiers and threats against top officials of the Guardia di Finanza, which involved numerous financial police officers belonging to Cobar, a sort of military workers' association.

Deputy Prosecutor Andrea Vacca initially alleged criminal conspiracy, but then before the judge—after the request for indictment—the prosecutor himself asked for that charge to be dropped, requesting four convictions and three indictments on the various charges of fabricating dossiers, defamation, slander, threats, and conspiracy.
Satisfaction was expressed by lawyers Roberto Nati (Guerrieri), Patrizio Rovelli and Debora Amarugi (De Giorgi) and Ivano Iai (Raimondi).

After the investigation—conducted by the Guardia di Finanza itself—the prosecutor hypothesized (for some defendants only) that there was some sort of dossier-building and pressure, including defamation and threats (anonymous letters with bullets), against local Finance Police leaders. Some of the defendants were members of Cobar.
Francesco Vittetti was also involved in the investigation: after a notification error, he was removed from the preliminary hearing and was questioned by prosecutor Vacca, assisted by lawyer Annarita Frau. He was thus able to demonstrate his innocence, and the prosecutor submitted a request to the preliminary investigations judge to dismiss the case.

Following the plea bargain of financier Sergio Cavoli, represented by Gianfranco Piscitelli of the Bari Bar Association, to a two-year suspended prison sentence, Marco Sireus, a civilian, represented by Edoardo Delirio, also pleaded guilty to two months. Sireus, a civilian, was also implicated in the investigation on charges unrelated to military conspiracy. Lieutenant Davide Giacalone of the Guardia di Finanza, however, had already been acquitted before the preliminary hearing. After the investigation was concluded, he, supported by his lawyer Ivano Iai, submitted to questioning and presented documents, convincing the magistrate not to proceed. His case was thus dismissed.
