Cars parked in fire danger zones, pine forests and dunes violated, vehicles parked within fire zones, violations of the rules that occur daily along the Alghero coastline and in the marine protected area of the Porto Conte regional park, closely monitored by the Barracellare company.
A total of 157 fines ranging from €50 to €200 were issued in the first week of July. These figures are the result of the environmental monitoring and surveillance operation launched by the Barracelli, led by Riccardo Paddeu, an intensified effort due to the increase in tourist numbers. In the protected area in particular, the green uniforms intervened to fine violators of the rules governing the mooring of buoys installed in recent days. This work was carried out in collaboration with the municipal administration led by Mayor Raimondo Cacciotto, who will provide the company with a team of motorcyclists—the only one in Sardinia—to strengthen surveillance in the area.
Two Benelli TRK 702X motorcycles will be deployed for enforcement activities in the most sensitive areas. These vehicles will reduce intervention costs despite the significant influx of visitors and, consequently, fewer violations of the bans set forth in the Urban Police Regulations recently approved by the Municipality of Alghero. The measure also includes the Barracelli (police officers) as a police force, responsible for combating stray animals, violations along the coast, and proper waste disposal.
