The hearing before the Tempio Pausania Court in the trial against Ciro Grillo and three friends ( Francesco Corsiglia, Vittorio Lauria, and Edoardo Capitta ), accused of gang-raping an Italian-Norwegian tourist in a villa on the Costa Smeralda, has been reopened with the risk of being postponed.
The main defendant did not appear in court.
Today it's the defense's turn, but two days ago, civil party lawyer Dario Romano, who represents the alleged victim along with his colleague Giulia Buongiorno , requested that a 600-page brief containing transcripts of chats and videos be included in the case files. The lawyers believe this would be evidence useful in reaching a decision.
The defendants' lawyers have asked for time to examine the documents: documents which, according to what has been learned, have already been removed from the proceedings.
The panel retired to the council chamber to deliberate on the possible admission and subsequent postponement.
Around noon, the judges of the Tempio Pausania court, after the deliberation, deliberated: the 600-page brief submitted by the plaintiff was admitted, but any sections that might be detrimental to the defense were removed. The defendants' lawyers then began their oral arguments.
The hearing concluded at 6:00 PM: "We have serious grounds for doubting the student's credibility," commented Enrico Grillo, Ciro's lawyer, immediately after the hearing. Hearings will continue until Monday.
