When they arrived at the cemetery they found the grave intended for their mother already occupied.

Doubled mockery and pain for the relatives of Mrs. Jolanda Cani in Assemini : when they arrived at the cemetery to accompany her on her last journey they discovered that the coffin would not be buried next to those of the deceased's husband and son.

«My mother bought three niches about fifteen years ago», says Milena Marras, one of the daughters: «One for my father, one for my brother, who had already passed away, and one for herself, because her eldest my desire was to be with them."

About five years ago, however, they discovered that another body had been buried in the third burial niche, the one that the old woman had purchased for herself.

«I went to the Municipality several times to report it», adds Anna, another daughter: «They always told me not to worry, that it was a temporary thing. Last week, seeing that my 95-year-old mother was very ill and showed no signs of recovering, I went back to the Municipality to inform them that we would need the burial niche any day now." The response was once again that they would fix the problem. But this did not happen.

Mayor Mario Puddu also personally intervened in the case, pledging to find a temporary solution while waiting to be able to return the tomb purchased at the time to the family as soon as possible.
