In the summer there will be " a reduction in activities " at San Francesco di Nuoro "to dispose of staff holidays", but "no ward will be closed", patients "will be taken in charge" and "assistance guaranteed on site or in other structures of the regional network ".
This was stated by the general manager of the Asl of Nuoro Paolo Cannas, who called a press conference to respond to the rumors of imminent closures of the emergency room and other wards of the hospital in the capital of Barbagia.
Yesterday some associations filed a complaint with the Prosecutor's Office to denounce " the health disaster of Nuoro ".
" We cannot prevent the rest of the employees who have the right to vacation and psychophysical recovery ", says Cannas, clarifying that "every patient who comes here will be guaranteed treatment, in Nuoro or in other structures of the regional network ". This means that patients "will be able to be hospitalized in other structures, but it has never happened that this company has not guaranteed treatment to someone", he stresses to answer the complaint.
The manager then takes stock of the strategy put in place to address the shortage of doctors. “In a few days we will ratify a regional protocol so that every Sardinian hospital can come to the aid of another that is in difficulty - he explains -. With the additional regional resources we are encouraging night shifts and the additional services of the doctors available and in Nuoro the tenders for the missing primary schools are starting. Finally we are developing an experimental project with the creation of 3 departments: surgical area, medical area and critical area ”.
Finally Cannas announces some news: “In September the ex Inam clinics will be transferred to the new structure in via Demurtas and chronic patients will be taken in charge to relieve San Francesco. In the autumn the situation will be different , the staff will be regenerated from the holidays and we hope to be able to have some of the skills that are lacking in the various departments thanks to the Ares competitions ”.
