Arbus: caretta caretta rescued trapped by nylon, will lose a fin

She could no longer swim due to a nylon bag that had almost severed her fin and she ended up on the rocks.

A boy from Villacidro was walking near the rocks when he saw the injured turtle, a nylon bag wrapped around its fin which prevented it from moving. The young man freed her and called the Forestry Corps, the staff from the Guspini station arrived on site, took delivery of the specimen and entrusted it to the care of Andrea De Lucia and Andrea Camedda, experts from Cres ( Sinis sea turtle recovery center) who are trying to save her.

«This episode confirms that the problem of the presence of plastics and microplastics in the sea is always very serious, the turtle will be operated on to remove the necrotic tissue, but will lose part of its fin », explain the Cres experts.
