The judge of the Court of Oristano recognized the crime of animal abuse. And so today he sentenced Antonio Mamusa of Arborea to two months and twenty days for hitting a cat with a hammer , causing injuries and causing it to fall from the shed.

The complaint was filed by the grandchildren and neighbors, Simonetta Zurru and Enzo Melis, after the episode which dates back to October 2021 . The couple (represented by the lawyer Patrizia Frau) reported to the Arborea police that they had seen their cat walking on some boards arranged on a shed in their uncle's building and that they had noticed that the animal had been hit on the face with a hammer. Immediately afterwards , according to the complaint, the animal fell to the ground and then there was no trace of it. The cat was gone .

Following the investigations, the sixty-seven-year-old was issued a criminal conviction which he opposed. This morning the trial with the abbreviated procedure requested by the lawyer Greca Mureddu, according to which there would have been no proof of the defendant's responsibility. The prosecutor Valerio Bagattini had, however, argued the opposite, asking, at the end of the indictment, to be sentenced to the payment of a fine of four thousand euros. Judge Salvatore Carboni finally accepted the prosecution's request, however sentencing the accused to two months and twenty days .
