There's already great anticipation in Fonni for the 39th Palio, scheduled for Sunday, August 3rd, and the official presentation promises to be an event within the event. The Fonni Equestrian Society announced the event at a press conference scheduled for tomorrow at 11 a.m. in the conference room of the Museo del Pastore, with two special guests.

Two true legends of the Palio di Siena will be present: Andrea Degortes, known as Aceto, and Sebastiano Deledda, known as Legno . Fierce rivals in the historic Piazza del Campo and close friends in life, the two jockeys have written indelible pages in the history of the Palio di Siena. Aceto holds the all-time record with 14 victories, the last of which came in July 1992 with the Aquila contrada on the horse Galleggiante, at the end of a heated race against Legno, which included an epic whip duel.

The two historic protagonists will not only be present at the press conference, but will also be present at every stage of the Palio di Fonni , from the qualifying heats' drawing ceremony, scheduled immediately after the press conference, to the final race on Sunday, August 3rd, which they will commentate live. As per tradition, Eleonora Mainò and Roberto Tangianu will guide the public through the excitement of the event, supported by experts Bruno Murratzu and Tore Budroni.

Another symbolic moment will be the presentation of the amaranth jacket to Riccardo Maloccu, who will make his debut as a Fonni jockey after years of a successful career as a parigliante. This passing of the baton represents the future of the Palio, in keeping with tradition.

The Palio di Fonni will be followed beyond Sardinia's borders: Tuscan and Lombard newspapers, including Gazzetta di Siena and Legnanonews, will ensure media coverage via their social media channels, allowing all fans to experience every stage of the event live.
