The confirmation has arrived: the human remains found yesterday afternoon in Aglientu , in the Rio Vignola area, belong to Silvana Gandola, the 78-year-old woman who disappeared into thin air in March 2021.

The macabre discovery was made by a group of hunters, who on Sunday were crossing the dense scrub that characterizes that area, came across a bag and other abandoned objects. A short distance away, the hunters then noticed a dead body and at that point they set off the alarm.

The carabinieri of the company of Tempio Pausania and of the Investigative Unit intervened on the spot, starting investigations, also recovering the remains and personal objects for analysis. That it is the Gandola was confirmed by the documents found in the bag, along with money and personal effects.

The place of discovery, the investigators explain, is about a kilometer from the place of the disappearance, which took place last spring, while the woman, originally from Turin, was walking near the beach of Torre Vignola, together with the caregiver.

An area, as mentioned, characterized by a dense tangle of shrubs and also for this reason the inspections following the disappearance would not have been successful.

A few hours after the first alarm signal, last March, the search rescue car was immediately activated, involving carabinieri, firefighters, the Red Cross and volunteers. Helicopters and drones had also been used, but no clue had been found of the 82-year-old. Until yesterday.
