Cagliari, work begins on the pedestrian bridges between Monte Mixi and the stadium: cycle paths and new lighting.

Renovation work on the first of two pedestrian walkways connecting the Monte Mixi and Sant'Elia neighborhoods began today, Monday, October 5th. Cagliari Mayor Massimo Zedda announced the work.

The construction site will initially involve the bridge between the Fiera parking lots and the skate park. The other bridge, which we will work on later, will be usable. The project, financed with European funds, includes enhancing the two bridges by expanding the two-way bike path for one of the two walkways. The new crossings will have waterproof surfaces, stairwells, and steel walkways. The new LED lighting system will cover the entire route and will create colorful displays during games, concerts, and events . New video surveillance cameras will also be active.

“In recent days,” the mayor continued, “we have illustrated the project to the creators of the Galleria del Sale , to safeguard the works where possible and resume a process of public and participatory art that will allow for the creation of new murals.”
