In eight years, there have been just under 4,000 accidents involving injuries, 4,800 without injuries, and 52 fatalities on the streets of the capital. The study carried out by the University's Faculty of Engineering, in collaboration with the Municipality and the local Police, has identified the most dangerous roads and the main causes of the collisions.

A precise and meticulous investigation thanks to georeferencing that allowed to establish with precision the place, the time, the number of cars involved and to analyze the accident rate in the urban area of Cagliari and that highlighted the weakest element: the pedestrian.

According to the study, the roads where most accidents occur are the arteries of entry, exit and crossing of the urban area. " The set composed of the Asse mediano and Viale Marconi register about 10% of the total accidents ," explains Mauro Coni, professor of "Roads, railways and airports" at the University of Cagliari, who supervised the study.
