A technical problem is thought to have caused the delayed departure of an Aeroitalia plane that was due to take off at 12:40 from Rome Fiumicino to Cagliari-Elmas airport.

The problem apparently occurred during takeoff. A passenger on board testified : "The plane aborted takeoff," he explained, "due to a technical anomaly in the onboard computers detected during the runway run. The captain himself reported the issue immediately after the attempted takeoff. The aircraft stopped and then returned to the gate."

Not only that. "We were left without air conditioning for about ten minutes," the passenger continued, "because they completely cut off the power to allow the technicians to carry out the necessary checks."

Flight XZ02341 finally departed at 1:40 PM. The airline's press office provided few details: "The aircraft is moving from the stand at the head of the runway for takeoff." No official information was released regarding the technical problems reported on board.

This incident adds to the list of delays that have accumulated in recent weeks, prompting Regional Transport Councillor Barbara Manca to convene the air transport monitoring committee to demand compliance with the obligations set forth in the territorial continuity contract.
