A 43-year-old craftsman was sentenced to seven years and eight months for attempted murder and domestic abuse by the Court of Oristano for attempting to drown his partner in the bathtub.

At the previous hearing, prosecutor Valerio Bagattini had requested a 10-year sentence after reconstructing the incident, arguing that the victim's statements had always been precise and consistent. Repeated abuse, insults, and kicks; on one occasion, the man allegedly even tightened a cable around the woman's neck and then attempted to drown her in the bathtub by submerging her head. Medical findings and investigations confirm: the visible marks on the woman's neck are consistent with an attempted murder.

Civil lawyers Anna Lisa Carta (representing the woman) and Romina Marongiu (appointed guardian of her daughter) supported the prosecutor's requests. Defense attorney Gennaro Di Michele attempted to debunk the prosecution's case , arguing that the couple was a peaceful couple and denying the attempted murder of the woman: "The tub was empty, the woman's hair was dry."

The panel of judges (president Carla Altieri, alongside Chiara Lai and Francesca Falchi) accepted the prosecution's argument and the conviction was reached.

The defense announced that it would appeal, also reiterating the objection already raised previously regarding the validity of the June hearing in which the injured party had been heard without the defense lawyer being present (he had presented a medical certificate).
