Transforming your city into a board game: a crazy dream? Maybe. But for Davide Pusceddu, 23, and Alessandro Mereu, 24, it was an exciting challenge. From a simple evening among friends, in front of the classic Monopoly, the idea of Quartucciopoli was born, a creative and ironic reinterpretation dedicated entirely to Quartucciu. In less than three weeks, the two students, with the support of their lifelong friends (Laura Mereu, Irene Pintus, Lucrezia Angioni, Michele Bargone, Riccardo Casu, Michelle Cocco, Sharon Cocco, Giacomo Cozzolino, Alberto Pusceddu, Nicolò Deiana, Marta Mariotti, Matilda Mariotti, Naomi Pitzalis, Valerio Palmas, Sara Pinna, Gaia Sabiu, Claudia Zedda) and the photographer of via Rosselli where everything was printed, have transformed their passion into reality, involving friends and the community in a project that celebrates the stories and symbolic places of the town.
The Quartucciopoli board comes to life with iconic locations: from the embankment to the Le Vele shopping center, up to the historic Maria Perra shop. Every detail is a tribute to the city's daily life, even the pawns and buildings: forget about houses and hotels, here bars and pizzerias are built, represented by miniatures in the shape of beer bottles and pizza slices.
With new rules like the lottery and new dynamics, Quartucciopoli has become more than a game: it is an act of love for Quartucciu. "We didn't want to overturn Monopoly, but to make it closer to our reality," explain the guys, who have created a collective work capable of uniting passion, creativity and a good dose of irony.
