In some phone calls intercepted between the end of May and the beginning of June 2021 , the brother of Saman Abbas, a key witness for the Prosecutor's Office, accused his uncle Danish of killing his 18-year-old sister.

We can read it in the transcripts of the conversations from which all the suffering and desperation of the young man emerges in the weeks following the disappearance of his sister . The texts were filed in the documents of the trial underway before the Court of Assizes of Reggio Emilia, where the same boy, who has in the meantime become an adult, will be called to testify in the courtroom, probably on Friday 27 October.

The accused are his father Shabbar Abbas, extradited from Pakistan, his mother Nazia Shaheen, a fugitive, his two cousins Nomanhulaq Nomanhulaq and Ikram Ijaz and his uncle Danish Hasnain.

Danish himself is indicated by the boy as responsible, in a phone call on May 28 (almost a month after Novellara's murder) between Saman's brother and an aunt: «From today I will no longer speak to your brother Danish and I will not even speak to that dog who has a mustache and not even with Irfan anymore, I won't even talk to the other two who are with them anymore because he did everything like an uncle, he did everything like an uncle ."

The aunt replies: "Shut up." But Saman's brother insists: «Yes but I will give these people a lesson that they will remember for the rest of their lives. If my sister isn't left alive, then they don't have the right to live either. Either I will kill myself or I will do something to these people." In another conversation, the day before, the brother was talking to an acquaintance. “My uncle killed someone, understand?” he said. “In Pakistan?” she asked. Answer: «Novellara».

In another phone call, dated 14 June, the father instead seems to try to convince him to place the blame on another relative, different from the five accused : «You - addressing the son - must say that Danish and the others are not at fault, he (the other relative, ed.) came to our house and said that I'll take care of killing her, that's what you have to say... now we have to frame this one." The next day the mother instead seems to try to tell the boy that Saman was not dead: «Listen to me, your sister is here. God will do good and she will be found too. She will come back". But the boy: "If my sister is no longer here I won't have to live either... She isn't here, don't say the wrong things."
