Ryanair's new rules come into effect on November 10th: baggage must be checked in one hour earlier.

From Tuesday 10 November, bag drop desks at all airports served by Ryanair will close 60 minutes before the scheduled departure time, instead of the current 40 minutes.

A change, announced in April, which, according to the Irish low-cost airline, will give the 20% of passengers who check in a bag "more time to get through security and passport control lines and reach the departure gate before boarding begins, especially during peak periods . It will also help reduce the already small number of passengers who miss their flights due to delays at security or passport control."

All other passengers will continue to check in online before going to the airport, and then proceed directly through security and to the departure gate.
