The Pavia Prosecutor's Office has requested the trial of Andrea Sempio for the aggravated murder of Chiara Poggi, which occurred on August 13, 2007, in Garlasco. Alberto Stasi was sentenced to 16 years in prison for this crime.

The request for indictment will have to be evaluated by a preliminary hearing judge, after the preliminary hearing has been scheduled.

The Prosecutor's Office, in requesting the trial, confirmed the two aggravating circumstances already alleged at the close of the investigation: "acting cruelly toward the victim, given the brutality of the homicide, given the number and extent of the wounds inflicted on the victim, including at least 12 injuries to the skull and face," and "committing the crime for vile motives, attributable to hatred for the victim following her rejection of his sexual advances." This is what is stated in the indictment forwarded to the preliminary hearing judge.
