Rosetta Dello Siesto, the wife and lifelong companion of Andrea Camilleri, the writer who passed away on July 17, 2019, died at the age of 97. "There is no line - Camilleri said - that I have published that has not been read by her first."
Born in Milan, Dello Siesto graduated from La Sapienza University in Rome and, as an assistant director, met Camilleri on the day of his theatre debut in the capital.

Camilleri wrote in Ora dimmi di te. Lettera a Matilda (Bompiani, 2018): «Rosetta began to follow the rehearsals, but after a few days I realized that the world of theater and its rules were a thousand miles away from her. Once or twice when I asked her to help me concretely with the sound and noise effects she caused me disasters. If I didn't lose my temper it was because I found her strangely nice and her presence made me happy. After the show went on stage I left to stay a month in Sicily with my parents. After a week, I realized to my great surprise that there hadn't been a day that I hadn't thought of that girl ».

" Rosetta," Montalbano's father wrote, "has been the backbone of my existence and continues to be so. I know I'm a lucky man, and not only because I've managed to live doing exactly what I dreamed of but also because I had Rosetta."
