The Turin Surveillance Office has rejected the request for a postponement of the release of Mario Roggero , the former jeweler detained in Bollate prison after being definitively sentenced to 14 years and 9 months for killing two robbers and wounding a third in 2021 in the Cuneo area.

The supervisory magistrate, Elena Massucco, notes that " the circumstances of necessity and urgency necessary to take precautionary measures in this instance are not apparent, nor have they been indicated by the defense ." The documents are now being forwarded to the Supervisory Court, the Attorney General's Office of the Turin Court of Appeal, and the Milan Supervisory Office.

"We remain hopeful," commented the former jeweler's daughter, Laura Roggero, "that there will be a solution, whether it be house arrest or a pardon, especially given his age."

Meanwhile , Milan's Chief Prosecutor, Marcello Viola, has spoken out today regarding the matter, addressing the social media attacks against the magistrates who convicted the jeweler. "I believe we need to tone things down, from everyone, and give the judiciary the time and means to do its job," Viola said. He added that the key is also to "try to evaluate after carefully reading the reasons for the measures. But above all, we need to calm the climate again, return to an institutional relationship that also allows us to avoid excesses like those seen in recent days."
