Monica Esposito, 55, who was admitted to intensive care after being hit in the center of Modena two months ago, on May 16, by a car driven by Salim El Koudri that plowed into a crowd, injuring eight people, died.

The patient, initially admitted in critical condition to Maggiore Hospital, part of the Bologna Local Health Authority, was transferred in recent weeks to Baggiovara Civil Hospital, part of the Modena University Hospital, where she died this morning.

The woman's condition, the hospital explains, immediately appeared very serious and, despite all possible medical and surgical approaches being attempted, she never regained consciousness until her condition irremediably worsened.

The family, respecting the woman's previous wishes, has given a favorable opinion on organ donation.
