A DNA test was carried out on Antonia Cerasela, a Roma girl who had come under the attention of the media for a video in which she was seen making a video call with a friend. Suddenly, in the course of the conversation, someone said "the Denisa". A little girl was also framed in the images. Many have wondered if that girl was Denise. Many theories have been formulated about it. Today it can be said beyond any reasonable doubt that Mrs. Cerasela is not Denise Pipitone , the child who disappeared in Mazara del Vallo in 2004.

The news was made known by Piera Maggio, the child's mother, who wrote in a message: "The lawyers Giacomo Frazzitta and Ottavia Villini, following the various reports received over the last year by Piera Maggio and the Studio dell ' Frazzitta who indicated that Cerasela as the possible Denise Pipitone, and although there were similar reports at the Public Prosecutor's Office of Marsala sent through formal documents, several weeks ago, at the request of Piera Maggio, who had not received a response from the Marsala Public Prosecutor, of the request to know if there were ongoing proceedings in the Cerasela case, proceeded, through an international operation, as part of the defensive investigations, to take samples of biological substance from Ms. Cerasela with her consent, after having localized her position in the State of Romania ".

He then added: "Later with the collaboration of the geneticist Dr. Marina Baldi, on Saturday 30 April and Monday 2 May 2022, the sampling and comparison of the biological substances taken from Mrs. Cerasela with the DNA of Piera Maggio and of Pietro Pulizzi, mother and father of Denise Pipitone; comparison that gave a negative result ".
