Two life sentences for the death of Ilenia Fabbri , the 46-year-old woman killed on 6 February 2021 with a stab in the throat in her apartment in Faenza, in the province of Ravenna.

The Ravenna Court of Assizes has sentenced the ex-husband Claudio Nanni and Pierluigi Barbieri, considered by the Prosecutor's Office to be the principal and perpetrator of the crime. Perpetual ban from public office and legal ban has also been arranged. The defendants are also jointly and severally condemned to pay damages of two million to Arianna, the daughter of Nanni and of the victim, who is a civil party.

"Our requests were accepted: we considered both defendants worthy of life imprisonment. It means that the assessments we had made as Prosecutor's Office were confirmed in the operative part of the sentence. There were all the aggravating circumstances disputed and these inevitably led to a life sentence" , comments the prosecutor of Ravenna, Daniele Barberini, who represented the accusation together with his colleague Angela Scorza, at the end of the trial in the first instance.

"No, I don't want to say anything", the words of the victim's companion, Stefano Tabanelli. Ilenia's daughter, Arianna, was escorted out of the courtroom immediately after the sentence was read.

According to what has been reconstructed, that day Nanni had gone to fetch his daughter Arianna to make an alibi. The killer broke into the house, then went into the bedroom on the first floor and attempted to kill Ilenia by strangling her. The woman defended herself, he chased her down the stairs and, after hitting her several times, stabbed her in the throat, near the kitchen.
