The preliminary investigations judge of the Brescia court has accepted the prosecutor's request to dismiss the case of former deputy prosecutor of Pavia, Mario Venditti.

Venditti was accused of having collected money to facilitate the dismissal of Andrea Sempio's case in the 2017 investigation into the Garlasco murder.

"The criminal case remains intact, but it involves other individuals," court sources told ANSA. For this reason, the case files will be transferred to Pavia.

Andrea Sempio's father, Giuseppe, remains under investigation in the same case. According to investigators' reconstruction, even after the dismissal of the former deputy prosecutor of Pavia, Mario Venditti, who was initially considered the corrupt person, Sempio's father remains identified as the alleged corruptor.

«No one among those who had the opportunity to know and work with Dr. Venditti could ever have seriously believed, even for a minute, in the odious hypothesis of a crime or in the premise of the man's dishonesty – commented the lawyer Domenico Aiello, defender of the former acting prosecutor of Pavia, Mario Venditti – On the contrary, there were two female magistrates who not only believed it but intended to promote a real media lynching, which began at dawn, live and on all networks».

The lawyer, who did not hold back in harsh tones, criticized the actions of the two Brescia prosecutors who, about a year ago, early in the morning, ordered searches that were immediately broadcast on television, "without first identifying the corrupt agent and, even more seriously, without considering it necessary to listen to the version of their former colleague, a magistrate who until then had been immune from censorship, had greater experience, length of service, and relative merit. They ignored any logic or reason, even though it was promptly and transparently presented by the defense."
