The fifty-four-year-old who drove the bulldozer that hit and killed Elisa Spadavecchia on the beach in Pinarella di Cervia this morning appears to have a criminal record for road homicide. The man is still being held in the Carabinieri barracks this evening and his position is being examined by the Ravenna Prosecutor's Office for possible precautionary measures.

The tragedy occurred in the late morning, on the Ravenna coast. According to an initial reconstruction, the heavy vehicle was tidying up and cleaning the beach in preparation for the bathing season: it hit Elisa Spadavecchia in front of other bathers .

There was nothing more that could be done for the woman, despite the intervention of the rescuers.
