A violent explosion occurred around 5.20pm in a factory in via Persicetana Vecchia, in the Borgo Panigale area of Bologna.

It is a warehouse of “Toyota Material Handling”, a multinational company that deals with goods handling. A compressor is thought to have blown up and the explosion caused part of the warehouse to collapse.

Firefighters, 118 with the helicopter and the police rushed to the scene.

According to initial reports, there are two victims and several injured, at least two of whom are in serious condition.
