The 30-year-old man suspected of the murder of the 27-year-old building contractor Pierpaolo Panzieri, who was stabbed to death in Pesaro, was arrested in Romania during a road check.

It is Michael Alessandrini, 30 years old, from Pesaro, a friend of the victim and, from what transpires, suffering from psychiatric problems.

Alessandrini, on the evening of the murder, was at dinner at the victim's house. After the discovery of Panzieri's body, the police searched for him for questioning.

But the 30-year-old had gone untraceable, triggering searches throughout Italy.
